Okay so I'm only slightly embarrassed to say, until three days ago, the only Zeppelin song I had heard was on American Idol when Adam Lambert rocked his little heart out to "Whole Lotta Love". But I have to say, I rather enjoyed it...and the original is only better.
So, two days ago I listened LD's first album and, I guess, they released two in the same year which is pretty damn impressive. And, I have to say, I liked this one better.
This album has a much more raw and gritty feel. What I'm liking about LD is that their albums don't feel like they poured over them in a studio for hours and hours, perfecting every note. I feel like I'm at a county fair, eating some cotton candy and listening to a really good play on the stage. It has that live feel where these guys really love and care about what they're doing.
Plus, the guitar solos are awesome. I don't think Adam Lambert could do the two minute lick in "Lemon Song" but I'd sure like to see him try.
Overall, I thought this album was tons of fun. Of the two, I definitely enjoyed this one more. 4.5 stars!

MC5 | Kick Out The Jams. The book describes them as "liquid frenzy" and "cosmic jazz". I'm not hopeful.

All I can say is that the opening guitar riff for "Whole Lotta Love" is the sexiest guitar hook ever. Ever.
Oh, and "Ramble On" is awesome for the nerd cred of the Lord of the Rings references therein contained.
I prefer "Led Zeppelin I" because of the deeper blues sound of that album, but this one is no slouch either. Am very glad you are getting hooked on Zeppelin.
